Can I get a refund?
No. Regardless of the reason - if you are late, do not show, miss a session, self-drop, fail to pass, are counselled out, etc.... Make sure you are committed before you sign up!
Are there physical requirements?
You must have the ability to balance and stabilize a two-wheeled vehicle. Riding a motorcycle requires good balance, coordination, and physical conditioning. Practice riding a bicycle before enrolling. Get a good night's rest, eat prior to class, and bring water and food.
IMPORTANT: If you are not adequately prepared, have difficulty controlling the motorcycle, or deemed a risk to yourself or others, you will not be permitted to continue.
Do I need a motorcycle permit first?
No. However, you must have a valid driver's license, learner's permit, or CA DMV-issued ID card.
How long is the class?
MTC is a multi-day 15 1/2 hour course. 6 1/2 hours in classroom and 9 hours riding.
Am I guaranteed to pass?
No. The instructors will help you learn to the best of your ability. However, not everyone is able to complete the course successfully. Current Statewide data shows a 79% pass rate. You must attend all sessions, pass a written test, and pass a skills riding test.
What if I don't pass?
Sometimes people need additional practice by repeating a portion of the class. Sometimes people decide that riding is not for them. You may get a second attempt to complete the course in a future class. Ask your instructor for feedback.
Are students counseled out prior to completing?
Sometimes. You may not be allowed to continue participating if, in the instructor's judgment:
This course is part of obtaining a DMV endorsement. Hence, the curriculum is very structured. Instructors must follow a precise presentation regiment. The pace and time limits for each Exercise is very specific.
If you are counseled out of class, there is no refund. However, you may get a second attempt to complete the course in a future class. Ask your instructor for feedback.
Negligent, disruptive, or unsafe behavior during any portion of the course will not be tolerated. You will be instructed to leave immediately. No option of rescheduling into a future class. No refund given.
What if I am late, or don't show up for part of my class?
You lose your seat and your tuition. Per CMSP rules, no late arrivals to any portion of the course are permitted. Sessions must be taken in the order they are scheduled. You will pay full tuition, again, to enroll in a future class.
What if I have a medical issue?
Medical clearance must be reported prior to enrolling. If CCMT is not properly notified, you must assume all risks and releases all parties from all liability.
What do I need to bring to class?
No one in CMSP class may display threatening, obscene, or political messages on clothing or helmet.
